Choose The Keurig Water Filter Kit That Works Best for You

We’re going to talk about single-serve brewer water filters and how they work, whether you need one all the time, what to do if you didn’t get one with your brewer, and a lot more.

We will also talk about how to use them to get the most out of them. When used right, they can make the difference between coffee feeling good and great. Even though this useful tool is small, it plays a big role in keeping dirt away…Although you can’t see them, you know they’re there.

And you know that delicious cup of coffee tastes different when you think about the quality of the water.

Let’s jump right in! To start with the first question, which I know is an important one for you to ask,

Is a Keurig water filter needed?

Does one of these have to be present for the best brewing results? It makes sense to use a good water filtration device unless you already have one. A lot of types and editions come with them; they’re part of the deal (more on that in a bit).

Any times when you wouldn’t…For example, what if you already drink bottled water? That’s different from tap water because it’s been cleaned to get rid of any contaminants. I looked at one of the bottles I use now just to see what it said on the label: “Purified by Reverse Osmosis.”

It says in every Keurig instruction, “Always use bottled or filtered water for best results…” So I don’t think it’s important if you already drink bottled water. The filter gets rid of chemicals in tap water like chlorine, sulphur, and other harmful substances.

The same goes for if you are using a different kind of filter, like the Britta pitcher: it would be unnecessary. Not necessary.

Does my Keurig currently have a water filter?

It is dependent on the type. Most of them do, but some don’t. One example is my K10 mini, which is one of the smaller, more compact models that doesn’t have a tank. because there isn’t room for one, of course. A container is usually a good sign that something is made to hold a filter, even if it wasn’t included.

If you bought it brand new, it’s probably already there. What if the coffee maker you bought was marked as “like new” or in a different condition? It could be missing from the box (read the description carefully). I always make sure to say that the filter is part of the deal in my reviews.

Even other brands usually include their own water filter kit. The filters will look different too based on the model. The one you need for a 2.0 model will look different from the one made for a 1.0 model.

Using Your Water Filter Kit: A Guide

A kit, sometimes referred to as an assembly, is made up of a device that is placed into the coffee maker’s reservoir. The ridges where it is supposed to be inserted should be visible if you look at the bottom. To keep track of when the cartridge has to be changed, the kit is built with a handle, a base, and a dial on top.

A carbon-filled sachet called a cartridge (shown on the left) inserts into the base before being fastened to the handle. With regular use, each cartridge keeps the water at its best for two months.

You must take a few preparatory actions before inserting your Keurig water filter: First, soak the new cartridge in water for five minutes. Before using, give it a thorough washing under the tap to remove any remaining carbon ‘dust’.

Once the base and handle are assembled, place the cartridge into the base and align the bottom with the coffee maker’s empty reservoir. It ought to fit in place with ease. An excellent overview of how to insert your water filter assembly kit may be found in the video below:

Keurig, Inc. is the origin of the video.

Changing the Cartridge

You will already be on top of this one if you are using the top feature on the dial that allows you to set a reminder. To keep you “up to date,” some Keurig machines come with a built-in Maintenance Reminder feature. When it’s time to replace the cartridge, just take the entire filter kit out of its bottom seat and then take out the spent cartridge by doing the opposite of how you inserted it.

Get a new one and do the same thing as before, making sure to rinse off the carbon debris first. Then, put it back into the holder exactly like you did before. Now put it back in the reservoir’s assigned location, and you’re ready to go again. We’ll now examine water filter assembly kits, so don’t worry if your brewer didn’t include one or if you misplaced or lost the one you had.

Keurig Water Filter Set for Model 1.0

This specific assembly, which comes with the handle, base, and two cartridge refills, is occasionally sold as a stand-alone “starter kit” in addition to being supplied with the corresponding coffee machines. In order to keep track of when to replace the cartridge, you can use the round dial at the top, which includes numbers 1 through 12, to set it to the current month. Either the current month or the month you want to be reminded of in the future can be selected.

With a few exceptions, it is designed to easily work with the “old school” Keurig machines. One phone call to a corporate representative cleared up the confusion, and I received the response, “NO, it is not compatible with the Vue series.” We regret to inform you that this outstanding brewer is not made the same way.

Nevertheless, I found that this filter has many happy users who are pleased with how simple it is to use and how their particular beverages taste better.

Compatible with:

  • K45, K60, K65, K70, and K75 Keurig machines
  • Cuisinart SS-700
  • A few variants of Breville

The models from the Vue series

  • The Keurig 2.0 models
  • The K-Compact
  • The K-Select
  • The K-Elite
  • Classic K50

Kit for Keurig 2.0 Water Filter

With the exception of the K200 and 250, all Keurig 2.0 models are compatible with the 2.0 Starter Kit. You can see from my evaluation of the K250 that the reservoir’s “wrap around” design makes it very distinct from its successors. When inspected closely, the filter holder assembly that comes with that specific model is a condensed version of the one I’m discussing here.

It has a dial on top, flat down, like its 1.0 predecessor, so you can only see it from above. Here, you can change it to match the month that you initially put it up. Additionally, you can choose to receive a gentle reminder from the panel settings on a regular basis. From the touchscreen panel, you wish to verify that the Water Filter Reminder setting is set to “Enable.”

For example, the holder’s 1.0 above the bottom must fit into the appropriate slot within the reservoir; a “click” should sound to indicate that it is secure. Both tabs must be tightly pinched before you can pull. In my investigation, I discovered that several users were dissatisfied with the 2.0 version because they had trouble separating the assembly’s components.

Occasionally, there were reports of damaged tabs. The fact that they had to buy an entirely new assembly kit when they only required that one part made me feel discouraged!

I’ve heard that soaking the assembly bottom in hot water helped loosen the components, so this would be something to consider if you have any dexterity restrictions (like arthritis), which could make it difficult for you.

Kits for K200-300 Series Filters

These types need a different-sized filter and have a different reservoir shape and style. They are shorter than the 2.0 series, but they share the same design. The process for replacing and inserting them is still the same. bundled with the cartridges as well.

This size works well with:

  • The K200 series
  • The K300 series
  • The K-Duo

Where Can I Purchase New Cartridges and Filters?

The prices of the 1.0 and 2.0 were same when I checked them up on the company’s main website, but at the time of writing, I found that Amazon offers a better deal. Additionally, some offers contain bonuses for additional accessories.

From what I could observe, these are hard to find at local stores. The cartridges are available in bundles of six to twelve and can also be purchased separately. In the long term, this can also save you money.

In conclusion

I thus hope that this will benefit you in the future when you are purchasing the appropriate kit and assembly for your brewer. Improved water quality will not only produce coffee drinks with richer flavours, but it will also improve the unit’s overall performance because stray debris particles are less likely to get into the more delicate parts of the machine. Thus, it is obvious that clean-tasting coffee is a prerequisite for drinkable clean water!
