The domestic smartphone maker, Lava recently launched a new Android phone in the entry-level segment,the Iris X1 Mini. It’s a new variant of the Lava Iris X1, which is the brand’s first Android 4.4 KitKat running smartphone. Priced at Rs 4,348, the Iris X1 Minicompetes against the likes of the Micromax Canvas Fire A093 in India.

Both the devices will remain on Android 4.4 KitKat forever. In the sub-Rs 5,000 segment, the Iris X1 Mini and Canvas Fire A093 will offer stiff competition to each other with 4-inch displays. The Lava Iris X1 Mini and Micromax Canvas Fire, both the devices offer 4-inch capacitive displays with resolutions of 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Battery capacity

The Micromax Canvas Fire and Lava Iris X1 Mini, both the smartphones are loaded with same 1,750mAh batteries. However, the Canvas Fire A093 offers better battery life including up to seven hours of calling time and up to 180 hours of standby time. There’s no official word on the talk time and standby time of the Iris X1 Mini as of now. So the Canvas Fire is better than the Iris X1 Mini in this department.

Verdict

The Lava Iris X1 Mini and Canvas Fire A093, both the smartphones are loaded with almost similar specifications under the hood, and are offered in the same price range. The Micromax Canvas Fire A093 is currently selling online for around Rs 5,000, and the Iris X1 Mini is up for grabs on several online retailers for Rs 4,299. In terms of pricing, the Lava Iris X1 Mini is a better deal over the Canvas Fire. However, if you are willing to spend a few hundred bucks more, then the Canvas Fire is better option with its gold-finish frames and dual front-facing speakers for immersive media experience.
